Italian Hand Painted Book Ends (hw1368)

A beautiful pair of antique, Italian wooden book ends. Each book end has a wonderful hand painted design depicting a rose and floral spray against a pale ochre-cream background surrounded by a gold coloured flourish. The outer edge and side are finished in a soft red terracotta tone with gold coloured painted flowers and flourishes on the sides. The back of the book ends are also decorated with gold painted flourishes. They have a metal foot plate which folds flat against the back of the book ends when not in use. They date to the 1920s or 1930s.

These lovely antique book ends will add Venetian flair to your home whilst providing a practical use. Each book end is approximately 12.5cm high and 12cm wide. They are in excellent condition for their age with some wear to the painted finish and light colour softening to the front and sides. (Please note there are some areas of glare on the painted finish from the light during photogaphing.)
