Rare 1950s Wheatsheaf Bread Advertising Sign (hw1386)

A very large and wonderful, colourful advertising sign for Wheatsheaf Bread dating to the 1950s. It depicts a family enjoying the garden in Springtime, with the young daughter collecting daffodils and tulips, whilst the father does a spot of digging. The lady of the house is bringing tea and sandwiches to reward the happy workers! The colours are bright and the image is a gay and happy one. The design is by one of the Practical Homemaker cover illustrators, a popular magazine throughout the 1950s and early 1960s. The sign is made from a printed and very sturdy cardboard and originally may have had a folding stand at the back.

This superb sign is a fabulous piece of wall art for a vintage kitchen. The sign is approximately 27" wide by 35.5" high. It is in excellent condition for its age. Colours are bright, no fading (please note there is some light reflection on the name in first photo.) There are rubbed corners, marks, scratches and a crease mark down from at the woman's shoulder but really nothing that detracts. The back has markings etc. (VH watermark does not appear on item.)
